The POSI Team |
The Program of Study Institute (POSI) Team is ready to partner
with educators and 1) assist with building online instructional materials and courses the POSI Team refers to as idevices; 2) provide training in designing and implementing technology-rich pedagogy; and 3) provide the educational technology infrastructure for delivering and teaching in or with iDevices.
The iDevices are built based on the concepts of the eCubed process of effective instruction (Person, 2007) and teaching with interactive demonstrations. Additionally, POSI partners with the Virtual Interdisciplinary Clinic (VIClinic) which provides a portal to online sessions based on teaching with interactive demonstrations. Educators who become part of the POSI community of scholars are free to integrate the VIClinic with their technology-rich pedagogy. |

About POSI |
 |
iDevices developed by the POSI community of scholars can be text-book driven, client-developed, and/or POSI-developed. iDevices are 1) aligned with quality criteria put forth by the Quality Matters Organization; 2) not only aligned with learning outcomes but also with outcomes based on critical-thinking processes; and 3) are undergirded with the dynamic eCubed concept of effective instruction.
The eCubed concept and process represents the convergence of expertise, enlightenment, and experiences (eCubed) necessary to develop and deliver effective and engaging instruction referred to as eCubed Pedagogy. Read more... |

The POSI eCubed Space (Virtual Learning Environment)
A significant part of web-connected course and instructional material delivery involves the educational technology infrastructure for hosting and supporting content. POS instructional materials and courses (iDevices) are hosted in a virtual learning environment named the POSI eCubed Space (POSIeS). The POSIeS provides for three levels of interaction necessary for effective online instruction (educator-student, student-content, and student-student). Within POSIeS there is a course management system (CMS) and technology to support tele- and video-conferencing. Additionally, the POSIeS is a virtual learning environment configured for broadcasting, streaming, and podcasting - all of which can be integrated with technology-rich pedagogy by any educator who is part of the POSI community of scholars. The POSI Team refers to the resulting pedagogy as eCubed Pedagogy. |

eCubed Objects for Learning
In addition to being based on learning outcomes identified by educators, each eCubed Object will be based on a specific critical thinking processes appropriate for the type of subject matter being taught. The selected critical thinking processes are those used by individuals to think and reason about subject matter across disciplines. For example, an eCubed Object based on communication can be used to provide the foundation for instruction for oral and written communication, general speech, etc.; one based on arts and humanities can be used as the foundation for instruction that addresses critical thinking in areas such as literature, languages, linguistics, philosophy, visual arts, performing arts, classical studies, music, religious studies, etc.; an Object based on science and math can provide the foundation of instruction for biology, botany, chemistry, physics, geology, environmental studies, computer science, and mathematics; and academic areas such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, economics, political science, communication studies, ethnic studies, woman's studies, urban studies, etc. can be addressed by an Object based on the social studies critical thinking process. eCubed Objects are created according to five functional object types: concept, fact, procedure, process, or principle. |
